What We Have Not

Time
O’, so much of it has passed!
When my heart bled, it ticked
And the nation bled, it ticked
My fingers itched, for the ink
But o’, time! Who does it wait for?

My mind pleaded, for a better time
But all around me passed
Time couldn’t wait, it ticked
And ticked, and things changed
And time, it remained the same
So, I took a pen, a pad, and my heart
I collected my mind, my thoughts, aside…

“Do it now, bleed, to near death
If you will, but remember to save
Some of you, for what’s left
Of the ticking time; the end is here
But even so, we will wait not
Seek, yee, what’s within, with a tick
And another; what we have not
Ironically, is all we have.”

Poetry Wednesday is live😍 and yes, I’m back! A post by the hour; see you in the next.
